Aurum Governance

The Aurum Institute is governed by a Board of Directors, supported by governance committees and led by a Group Management Executive consisting of a Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) supported by a Technical Expert Group; a Group Chief Operations Officer (COO) and a Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Mr Bulelani Kuwane

Bulelani Kuwane joined The Aurum Institute in 2006 and is currently the Managing Director of Health Systems Division and Principal Investigator (PI) of the Facility Health Systems Strengthening Grant.

He is responsible for overseeing implementation of projects funded by PEPFAR through CDC. These projects include among others, Facility Health Systems Strengthening, Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), DREAMS and Advance Clinical Care.

He holds Masters of Management – Public and Development Management (Wits), Honours Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Commerce (Unisa), Comprehensive Diploma in Nursing (Transkei Nursing College), Advance Certificate in Health Management (FPD) and Certificate in Palliative Care Nursing (Sungardens Hospice).

He boasts over 12 years health programme management experience. Bulelani’s experience also includes: Health Systems Strengthening, Technical Assistance, Managing HIV and TB Prevention, Care & Treatment Services, Primary Health Care and Palliative Care. His strengths include among other things programme and operational management, financial management, team development and staff motivation and stakeholder management. His passion is on the quality of health care services and access to health care.

Bulelani is a Board Member and the Chairperson of the Board of the Hospice Palliative Care Association of SA.
