Prof Vinodh Edward
Dr Vinodh Edward has been a basic sciences researcher involved in clinical trials management for 20 years. He is a registered professional natural scientist, which allows him to have a broad focus in the biological sciences. He understands working with various donors and delivering various projects simultaneously.
As Regional Chief Operating Officer for Health Research, Dr Edward leads one of the largest and most diverse teams in South Africa, which focuses on TB and HIV, with sites in Klerksdorp, Tembisa, Rustenburg and Welkom.
He is currently the Principal Investigator for IAVI Protocol B – A prospective observational study to determine HIV incidence in preparation for future preventive HIV vaccine clinical trials and IAVI Protocol C – A prospective, observational, multi-center study to evaluate laboratory, clinical, immunologic and viral markers of disease progression in recently HIV-infected volunteers.
Dr Edward holds a Bachelor of Science degree with majors in Microbiology and Physiology as well as a Doctor of Technology Degree in Biotechnology. He has published in the areas of basic sciences and clinical research.
