The Aurum Institute was recently the recipient of lifesaving personal protective equipment (PPE) donated by private higher education institution MANCOSA.
MANCOSA responded to Aurum’s call for donations of cash or PPE providing 400 packs of PPE to staff at the Winnie Mandela Health Clinic in Tembisa. The packs include facial shields, disposable aprons and surgical masks for health workers on the frontlines of the national response to COVID-19.
“This is part of our cooperate social investment campaign. We are responding to the need for PPE in the country and have distributed 5000 units to provinces hardest hit by the devastating Coronavirus to date,” said Raees Ebrahim, MANCOSA Regional Manager.
Aurum has been supporting the Department of Health and City of Ekurhuleni with efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19. As part of the response to the pandemic, Aurum has been conducting contact tracing and door-to-door screening and testing.
John Mdluli, Community Engagement Manager and Programme Manager Heeran Makkan received the donation. Makkan expressed gratitude for the potentially life-saving donation. “This will help in ensuring that our staff members are protected and continue to provide healthcare services and work safely,” said Mdluli.
Aurum continues to call for donations of cash or PPE as the Aurum group continues to play its part in the national effort against the global pandemic.
